Paper Wedding Flowers Update

by Mary on September 27, 2011

I’ve been obsessed with paper flowers since the beginning of my wedding planning.

I’ve been planning to use tissue paper flowers in some way at the wedding. I’ve had a couple failed attempts at paper flower making. All my ideas didn’t work out, which is why it’s good that I had plenty of time to work through the issues.

I decided to use kusudama paper flowers for my bouquet and the bridesmaids. Then I made a bunch of those paper flowers from post it notes and other paper.

It was a lot of work but I’ve enjoyed it and think the paper flowers and unique and fun.

Check out the previous paper wedding flower updates:

And now view the mostly finished paper wedding flowers in all their glory.

I wanted to also show off my wedding craft area and figured a quick video would be a fun way to do this while also showing off the paper wedding flowers.

And in case you don’t want to or can’t watch the video, here are some photos of the flowers.

Pretty!

And everything is almost done, thank goodness. I’m moving on to some of those other last minute DIY projects on my list now. :)

Okay. Holy shaholies! I didn’t realise how much you had done! I didn’t know you painted those vases you showed me. And the bought flowers are really cool. Seeing everything all together, it looks SO good. You have done a freaking amazing job. In between working full-time, house sitting, taking care of yourself and me, you have managed to do all this? I am really blown away. I’m so proud and am so excited to see all of this together. You are amazing.

I love you!

Honestly I didn’t realize how much I’d done until yesterday when I cleared everything off and put it all together. It’s quite a bit!

Yeah the painted vases were some ugly ones from Goodwill and I painted them so they matched each other and the general feeling.

Thank you! Love you too.

Thank you heather! I wanted a bouquet I could keep. Now I just have to transport it back to NZ. ;)

More more more! I adore wedding blog posts :) And I love that the bridal bouquet has little words and such on the petals.

Oh yeah. Those words are emails Kepa and I sent to each other in the beginning of our relationship. I should probably explain that in a future post. :)

I’ll try to post more. It will be easier after the wedding, haha.

I absolutely love these bouquets for your wedding. My daughter is getting married in June and just brought up the idea of paper flowers. She has a great love of nature and “saving the earth”. She would rather have paper than real. Can you email me and share how you assembled them to look so nice? Also, what did you use for the centers? I would love to make a small bouquet this weekend and surprise her. She and her future hubby both share a love a music (she runs a music school and he plays in a band), so sheet music will be excellent for her bouquet. Thanks so much for sharing. I love it.

These are so adorable! I too am curious to know how these were made. I have never really liked the smell of flowers, especially while eating, and would love to use these as centerpieces in my wedding! I’ve seen some videos on how to make the flowers but was having a horrible time finding paper. I very much appreciate it if perhaps you can send me some pointers. Also, I absolutely LOVE how you used the white music paper!! Waaaaay prettier than most flowers I’ve seen! Thank you for sharing ;)
