Paper Flowers
For my wedding I made almost all of our flowers out of paper because I love paper flowers.

I made a few different kinds of paper flowers and the results at the wedding were amazing. I’ve written a lot about creating paper flowers for the wedding on the blog and I hope you enjoy all the content about wedding paper flowers!

Hello Mary!!
First off….. Absolutely stunning!!!
I am in love with your flowers!! It has inspired me to make my own paper flowers for our wedding as well. I have the folding technique down pat but I am a little curious about how you put it all together. Did you use dowels and a floral ball? floral wire and picks? I guess I am worried about where to start on assembling the actual bouquet. Any feedback or direction you could give me would be so deeply apreciated! Thank you so much!! :)
Sent you an email with more info! :)
Thank you so much!! :)
I found how to fold these gorgeous flowers as well. I -loved- all the DIY decor you had at your wedding. I’m going to make some of these and the tissue paper pom poms as well. I was curious about the same thing as Sonya, for how you put all the flowers together into the bouquets. If you have any tips I would love to hear them. My wedding is in June and it’s a lot of fun making things for it rather than paying outrageous retail prices. Congrats on your gorgeous wedding and your amazing photos.
Mary! I am also making these flowers!! they are gorgeous you did a wonderful job!! I have the same question as Sonya about how you assembled them! any help would be appreciated thank you so much!!! and all of your flowers turned out beautifully!
Hi Jill! Simple answer: Twisted them together and wrapped in floral tape. I’ll create a more detailed instructions post soon! Thank you! :)
I love these flowers so much that I am going to make my own :) so firstly thank you so much for sharing them with us :) congratulations on your wedding too. Can I ask, what paper did you use in the end? Xx
Thank you! I just used regular computer printer paper in fun colors bought from Office Max.
I was turned onto this sight by my future mother-in-law and fell in love with the Kusudama flowers.
How many ended up going in one bouquet???
Thanks for reading! I honestly don’t remember how many flowers were in a bouquet! Each was different but maybe around 15? Mine had a lot more.
Mary,
I follow your Merry Life blog and just read your Merry Wife blog tonight and between the actual look of the flowers and the cute story that they are made out of old emails and music my heart nearly melted! Keep the posts coming :)
The paper flowers are beautiful! I love them!
I love, love, love these flowers! I already knew I wanted to do paper and tissue paper flowers for our wedding because (1) its different and unique, (2) saves us $$ on real flowers, and (3) I didn’t want to use fake flowers. I stumbled upon your site when googling “paper flowers”. Do you have a step-by-step video on how and where to start? Also, do you think making these a year in advance is a good idea? (At least the ones that take longer to make.)
Making them as far in advance as possible is a great idea. I started mine about 8 months before the wedding. I finished two weeks before. It gives you time to work on it as you can without pressure and gives you time in case you make a mistake. So definitely start early!
Okay, I’m not very artsy but I am DYING to know how you made the tissue paper hanging poms and the centerpiece flowers! I do well with crafts if I have the steps or a tutorial so that would be great! My colors are similar to the ones that you used and I love how everything looks in these pictures.
I would also like to know how to make the poms. Love them. My colors are also purple, white and black and would like to start on them as soon as I can. If you found out how to do it will you let me know. Thanks.
Hey guys, I posted a tutorial here: http://amerrywife.com/diy-hanging-tissue-paper-flowers-tutorial/ Thanks!
Hi there Mary! I absolutely LOVE all of your paper flowers!! they;r beautiful:) I am actually doing fabric flowers for my bridesmaids and myself, but I was inspired by your hanging tissue poms! I’ve attempts them myself from others’ youtube tutorials.. but I’m coming across a problem.. Not all of them turn out completely round.. Could you give an idea of how you made yours? I would really appreciate it!! BTW my color is purple also ;)
Thanks!!
Gabi
Hi Gabi! I had that problem too actually which is why I did mine a little differently. It might be a weird method but it worked! Here is the tutorial: http://amerrywife.com/diy-hanging-tissue-paper-flowers-tutorial/
Hi Mary! Simply beautiful. I’d like to make the table center pieces. How did you make these? What size tissue paper and how many sheets? How many flowers per vase, etc… Also , did you make the vase containers? If so, please provide details. Thanks!
Hey Tammy! To make those table center pieces I used the flowers from this tutorial and used floral wire to create them instead of string. That way they were a real flower then I just bunched four or five together and wrapped them stems together with tape. I bought the vases at Goodwill and painted them silver to match. :)
I love the bouquets! Is there anyway you could e-mail me the tutorial?

Just found this post.
Thank you so much for sharing all these beautiful ideas.
Sarah :)
I to am wondering you put the flowers all together to make the bouquet. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.
Hi Mary! Thank you so much for sharing these, all of the pieces are beautiful! I’m hoping to make the bouquets for my wedding, my main concern is the assembly for them. I don’t have much crafting experience and know there’s alot of available material. Any help would be appreciated! I also am thinking of doing paper boutonniere, do you have any ideas/advice? -Marie
Hey,
I’m getting married and I was curious if there were any small businesses that you know of that make flowers like the ones you had. They are just beautiful.
